Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Income Tax Department (IT) has once again raided the beedi factory of former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress MLA Zakir Hussain.
On Wednesday morning, IT officials conducted a search operation in the Pataka Beedi factory located in Shamsherganj, Murshidabad. They were accompanied by armed personnel of central paramilitary forces for security. Getting the information of the raid and seeing armed soldiers, hundreds of people from the surrounding have gathered there. The police team is also present on the spot.
Another branch of this Pataka Beedi factory is also in Murshidabad. Income tax officials have also raided there.
It is notable that before this the Income Tax team raided two other beedi factories and office and house of the former minister. Rs 11.5 crore in cash was recovered from his house after which the Income Tax Department had asked for several documents.
